Divas
Divas
Regarding music in this century, there are three main female singers who have created a huge impact in music industry. It is impossible you have not heard about these women, whose powerful voices are listened all over the world.
However, if you are not so familiar with those singers or know little about them, here in this post you will find information about the great divas of this century (and, maybe, you will get fond of these women and start to like them!).
For those who love music and know what I am talking about, here will be presented singers Lady Gaga, Madonna and Beyoncé (hope you are ready for them and their music, bloggers).
For those who love music and know what I am talking about, here will be presented singers Lady Gaga, Madonna and Beyoncé (hope you are ready for them and their music, bloggers).
The first singer I will talk about is LADY GAGA. She is an American female singer and actress, bornt in 1986. She is known for her spectacular design customs and her powerful voice. Her first single "Just Dance" marked the beginning of her musical career, and since on she had became more and more popular. Since her first release, she has continued to create new music and Lady Gaga has achivied a lot of success, making her one of best-knowN singers of the 21st century, with millions of fans.
As this blog is dedicated to feminism in female singers, I am going to deal with her song "Telephone" (also featured with Beyoncé, whom I will talk later in this post). This song deals with the idea being against control had established over women. The lyrics fit perfectly with the theme, which makes the song a feminist one. Moreover, the way in which the song is presented (the music video) contributes to the image of the power of Lady Gaga, not leting anyone tell her what she has to do. The costumes and designs, creating the atmosphere of a woman who has the reins of her own life (let's celebrate women's power!).
LADY GAGA
I know I have your attention, so I will continue telling you about these divas. Let's move onto MADONNA (my God, she really is the queen of music!), who is considered to be a legend in music industry. Madonna was bornt in 1958. She started her career in 1980, trying to get her into an industry which at first was male dominant. Her first hit was named "Everybody", which opened her the doors to the music bussiness. The song became number 1 hit in the year 1982. Since then, she has been achiving more success and popularity, two things that have granted her the option of being included in the section of divas.
Because Madonna has always tried to impose herself among men in music, the song chosen to vindicate feminism is "Bitch, I'm Madonna". In this song, the singer is referring to her role in music industry, in which herself is expressing her voice, as the same time she is imposing over male dominance. Because of this, her song received lots of critics that were based on the idea that Madonna only wanted to call attention (I quite disagree, this song is very energetic, it is made up with singer Nicki Minaj and is an example of women's power in ruling men industries as this). Despite all critics Madonna has received, she is still in the category of one of the divas from all times in music (and feminist, of course).
MADONNA
The last diva, as mentioned at the beginning of this post, is BEYONCÉ. She is an American singer born in 1981. Since her childhood, she started to take voice lessons and she performed at numerous talent shows. She was part of the group called Destiny's Child, releasing important hits such as "Say My Name". Despite the group's popularity, there were some internal conflicts which led to the dissolution of this group, and since that Beyoncé initiated a solo career. Her first hit was "Crazy in Love" (really powerful voice and lyrics, with the music background). From that hit, she has continued her solo career, making more and more hits, as well as albums which have made her gain more popularity.
I will talk about her song "If I Were A Boy". This song is related to feminism becuase of the musical video and lyrics. Beyoncé is presented in the video as a police officer who uses her job as an excuse to ignore her partner (her partner is the one who suffers the lie, he does not know what is happening). In her life, this situation was real, and wonders what could happen if she was a boy and did the lying to the partner. This demonstrates the critics women could suffer when lying to their partners, and if men did this, it was well seen, but for women not, so the singer tried to vindicate that women have the same right to lie to their partners, without being critised or accused of.
BEYONCÉ
I really hope you all have enjoyed this post of the blog and conceive in your minds the importance of feminism in female singers, as it is part of our society (nowadays, feminism is an important matter). See you on the next post, buddies!!!!!!!☺☺
